Lose weight, boost your metabolism, and start living a happier life with this transformative 30-day plan for healthy eating from the host of the hit podcast The Model Health Show
Food is complicated。 It's a key controller of our state of health or disease。 It's a social centerpiece for the most important moments of our lives。 It's the building block that creates our brain, enabling us to have thought, feeling, and emotion。 It's the very stuff that makes up our bodies and what we see looking back at us in the mirror。 Food isn't just food。 It's the thing that makes us who we are。 So why does figuring out what to eat feel so overwhelming?
In Eat Smarter, nutritionist, bestselling author, and #1-ranked podcast host Shawn Stevenson breaks down the science of food with a 30-day program to help you lose weight, reboot your metabolism and hormones, and improve your brain function。 Most importantly, he explains how changing what you eat can transform your life by affecting your ability to make money, sleep better, maintain relationships, and be happier。 Eat Smarter will empower you and make you feel inspired about your food choices, not just because of the impact they have on your weight, but because the right foods can help make you the best version of yourself。

I loved listening to Shawn Stevenson read the audio book version。 His corny anecdotes and analogies make the very useful information easier to understand and retain。 I knew a lot about many of these topics but still learned a lot and heard some old information in a way that will help me better understand and remember the content。 This is a great book for anyone who doesn't know much about health but wants to learn more about how the body works and how everything around us can influence that proc I loved listening to Shawn Stevenson read the audio book version。 His corny anecdotes and analogies make the very useful information easier to understand and retain。 I knew a lot about many of these topics but still learned a lot and heard some old information in a way that will help me better understand and remember the content。 This is a great book for anyone who doesn't know much about health but wants to learn more about how the body works and how everything around us can influence that process and what you can do about it。 。。。more

SUCH a gracious conversation about food and relationships, and eating for all around health and wellness。

Skimmed this one。 Lots of good info in here, but SO MUCH info it’s hard to know where to start。 Think I came away with some good takeaways, though, and things to add。 Also very much enjoyed the mindset /food love languages/sleep sections。

A little cheesy and drawn out but overall very informative。 I was a little disappointed in the scant amount of recipes and lack real action steps。 As a purely educational book, it was great!

I want to read it as soon as possible

Although there is a lot of good information in this book I really don't like this author's writing style。 I think advertising that you have a special 30 day plan is kind of fake advertising。 If you read the book you will know what I am talking about。 Good information for beginners but not much for people with a solid nutrition background and knowledge。 Not really much in the way of practical application。 An emphasis on restricted time feeding and fasting that doesn't go into the fact that is not Although there is a lot of good information in this book I really don't like this author's writing style。 I think advertising that you have a special 30 day plan is kind of fake advertising。 If you read the book you will know what I am talking about。 Good information for beginners but not much for people with a solid nutrition background and knowledge。 Not really much in the way of practical application。 An emphasis on restricted time feeding and fasting that doesn't go into the fact that is not something for everyone。 My biggest issue was all the pop culture references throw in for now reason。 it is like someone took a bunch of blogs and threw them into a book。 It would have made the book much more digestible and about 100 pages shorter。 Usually I would keep a book for references or re-read。 This is not one of them。 After waiting a ridiculous amount of time for a pre-order I am a very disappointed reader。 。。。more

Really liked the book。 Lots of wisdom and was able to relate easily。

The structure of the book is very clear and clean, which has made the content easier to understand。 How to eat and what to eat have already been a popular topic。 The book has given good advice and list of food/recipe, very pratical。

I am definitely becoming more appreciative of the nonfiction genre。 Oh the things I’m learning!

Awful nutrition book。

I’m excited to try this modified fasting plan for 30 days。 I already eat nutritiously, but I am curious about optimizing biological functions。 A few too many cheesey pop references, but otherwise an easy read。

There is a lot of great information, and advice, about food, macronutrients, micronutrients, hormones and they impact health。 However, some of these advice are based on information/dogmas that doesn't have a solid evidence or has been disproven。 Some is also based on evidence that is correlative not causative。 For example, the necessity to eat vegetables, fiber and diverse diet。In general, this book is still offers a lot of information that is much better than the majority of books on the market There is a lot of great information, and advice, about food, macronutrients, micronutrients, hormones and they impact health。 However, some of these advice are based on information/dogmas that doesn't have a solid evidence or has been disproven。 Some is also based on evidence that is correlative not causative。 For example, the necessity to eat vegetables, fiber and diverse diet。In general, this book is still offers a lot of information that is much better than the majority of books on the market。 For that reason, I recommend this book for anyone looking to make changes toward a better health, not just losing weight。 。。。more

A must read if you are interested in nutrition。 This book is not a weight loss book。 It’s about the nutrition and fueling of your body for health, both physical and mental。 The chapters on nutrition for brain health are changing the way I eat。

Shea Walters

Very informative。 Written in a way that non-scientific folks can understand。 Some great analogies throughout to help understand difficult concepts! Learned a lot!

Jennifer

Stopped reading at approximately 60% as I was primarily interested in the fat loss section。 I may pick it up again at a later time。

If you still think "calories in v。 calories out" for weightloss, or taht dietary fat is bad。。。 read this to quick catch up on the past 20 years of advances in the science of nutrition and metabolism。 Entertaining and comprehensive。 If you still think "calories in v。 calories out" for weightloss, or taht dietary fat is bad。。。 read this to quick catch up on the past 20 years of advances in the science of nutrition and metabolism。 Entertaining and comprehensive。 。。。more

Very informative, informational, and interesting! Some of the science went over my head but the author did a great job breaking it down and explaining the practical application of it all。 Would recommend to anyone looking to learn more about food, their own food choices, and the merge of food science / psychology。

Bri

This is everything you need to know about food and how it impacts your gut, brain, hormones, and metabolism。 It should be a college textbook。 Shawn takes really complicated subjects and explains it in a way anyone can understand and he uses hilarious analogies! 10/10 recommend!

Kelly

An interesting and informative look at nutrition。

Kristina

Very dense。 I skimmed a bit。 But your questions are answered for sure。

This was an excellent deep dive on the subject of nutrition。 The author kept the material humorous and easy to understand while still covering a ton of information。 I learned a lot and am ready to change my eating habits from eating to lose weight to eating to be healthy。 I'm very excited that I can finally understand the difference between those concepts。 This was an excellent deep dive on the subject of nutrition。 The author kept the material humorous and easy to understand while still covering a ton of information。 I learned a lot and am ready to change my eating habits from eating to lose weight to eating to be healthy。 I'm very excited that I can finally understand the difference between those concepts。 。。。more

I wish it was required reading assigned by every medical doctor after they’ve read it first。 Excellently written, informative and fun。

I am torn on this book。 On the one hand, it may be the first "diet book" I've ever actually read cover to cover rather than picking and choosing the chapters and skimming the rest。 And he references SO many people and studies that I have followed or read。 So I feel like the research is there and the things he says generally make sense。 BUT。。。。 I don't think I have ever read a book that is more annoying and filled with cutesy one-liners and attempts at pop cultural references。 More than once I wa I am torn on this book。 On the one hand, it may be the first "diet book" I've ever actually read cover to cover rather than picking and choosing the chapters and skimming the rest。 And he references SO many people and studies that I have followed or read。 So I feel like the research is there and the things he says generally make sense。 BUT。。。。 I don't think I have ever read a book that is more annoying and filled with cutesy one-liners and attempts at pop cultural references。 More than once I wanted to just close the book and forget it as being frivolous and not worth my time。 Finally, I just started skipping any paragraph that referenced Beyonce or Netflix or any of the other hundred pointless jokes or trite comparisons being made。 I appreciate trying to make a somewhat dry topic accessible and enjoyable, but it went so far as to be absurd and really devalued the important things he was talking about。 I'm hoping time will allow me to forget the ridiculousness of the book and just remember the good points he was making。 。。。more
